Teaching & Pedagogy
Overview
I have worked in education and childcare environments since I was a teenager and through those experiences I have discovered my deep passion for teaching.
Through my time I have worked to develop my teaching style and build confidence in my leadership abilities as well as my ability to create both creative and educational programming for youth of various ages and abilities.
For seven years I worked in a variety of roles for Scouts Canada:
- Nature Coordinator (Camp Samac)
- Created and taught outdoor-education based lessons in accordance with Scouts Canada’s programming guidelines for youth aged 6-15.
- Senior Programs Coordinator (Camp Samac)
- Lead the Leadership Training and Counsellor in Training programs leading youth aged 12-18 with career skills training and mentorship.
- Program Support Specialist (National Team)
- Assisted staff and volunteers nation-wide in adapting programming to a virtual environment to adapt for the COVID-19 lockdown measures.
My ultimate goal in education is to inspire others to try and fuel their own desires to learn, search for the things you want to learn more about and ask all the questions you can. At a time in society where AI is rampantly replacing the thinking processes in education I think it is more crucial than ever to make people excited to challenge themselves, learn, and explore.
